Obituary of Lillian Monte

Lillian Monte passed away peacefully on August 15, 2024 at the Taconic Rehabilitation and Nursing at Ulster. She was born on March 10, 1933 in Santo Stefano di Quisquina, Sicily to the late Salvatore and Rosaria (Francimore) Ciccarello. She emigrated to the United States in 1948 with her siblings and resided in Highland, NY. She then moved to Newburgh, NY and met the love of her life her husband Joe. They were married for 65years, until his passing in 2019. Our mom was a loving wife, mother(in law),grandmother, great grandmother, sister,(in law) and friend to so many. Her love was not only her family and friends, but her passion for her cooking, conversations and especially her generosity to others. She worked for many factories as a very fast pocket maker and became a shop steward. She retired in 1998 after a long career. She is survived by her two daughters and their spouses. Teresa Monte-Caruso (Michael) and Joanne Tomlins (Ken), grandchildren Nicolle Tomlins & Kenny Tomlins, great granddaughter Khloe Casale the love of her life. Her sister Nina Lopresti and her brother Albert Ciccarello (Mary) and many nieces, nephews and friends. She was predeceased by her siblings and their spouses, Angelina Smolinsky (Joseph), Andrew (EllaMae), Vera Lince (Clyde), Philip Ciccarello, Rita Weatherly (Ken), & Jimmy Ciccarello and her brother in law James Lopresti, and her husband’s siblings and their spouses. The family would like to thank the staff at the Taconic Rehabilitation and Nursing at Ulster and Hudson Valley Hospice of Ulster & Dutchess, and Mavine and Kadesha for all their compassion, care, and support for our mom in her final days. Visitations will be held at Hudson Valley Funeral Home 239 Quassaick Ave. (Rte. 94) New Windsor. Tuesday 4-7pm August 20. Funeral Services will be Wednesday August 21 at 10:30am at the funeral home & burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
