Obituary of Michael J Suchowiecki

Please share a memory of Michael to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Our family lost a loving husband, father and grandfather after a prolonged struggle. Dad was always a fighter and fought to the end but now he is at peace. He will be rejoining his mother, Sara and father, Fred, whom he was born in Auburn California in 1945 as well as many other family members. He will be united with the daughter that predeceased him that he was never able to meet in this life but now shall have eternity to catch up with Michelle. He follows his younger brother Freddie into the great beyond. He spent his working life in the Newburgh School District as an educator at many different sites and as an administrator. He taught for many years at South Junior High School and was an administrator of adult education at Newburgh Free Academy. His work has impacted on the lives of hundreds of if not thousands of students, now adults, all over the nation. Michael married Janice Mueller in 1968, and they remained together until the last breath left his body. He loved sports and would attend all the events, meets and games of all his children and grandchildren that he could. He was always encouraging to his family to be the best they could and strive to go as far as you can. When he was younger, he would play softball in Newburgh and basketball with his fellow teachers after school. He took up golf when he retired from school (probably fudging his scores a bit) Although he gave the outward appearance of stoicism, He was a deeply caring individual and would literally give you the shirt off his back if he thought it could assist you. He taught his sons to do for others and look for opportunities to help those less fortunate. He was very involved in the Catholic church and served as a lectern at Sacred Heart Parish for a number of years. He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years Janice. He is also survived by his brother Norman and his wife Judy, his sister Kathy and husband Norman, their children as well as his sister Nancy and her four children. He leaves behind his three sons and their families: Jason Suchowiecki his wife Jane and their two children Kate and Trent; Mark Suchowiecki, his wife Kristin and their four sons Caleb, Colton, Christian and Caden; Matthew Suchowiecki and his two children Abigail and Gabriel. No one is ever truly gone as long as they are carried in the hearts and minds of those that live on. You are ever in our hearts and mind Dad.
