John Coen of Newburgh, NY passed away on Saturday, June 19, 2021 at home, after a hard-fought battle with kidney cancer. John was born on January 17, 1961, in Newburgh, New York. He was a local business owner of Art and John’s Auto Body Shop, a family run business that John put all his dedication and hard work into.
John was an enthusiastic motocross racer, with a need for speed. His passion and love of the sport led him to become the founder of Diamondback MX, a track that was “Built by Racers, For Racers”. John was also a member of the AMA and MSC organizations.
John was a wonderful man who always knew how to make you smile with his corny jokes and playful humor. He was the son of Arthur and Nancy Coen and brother to both Angela and Carlo (Maria Coen). John was a special person to his family including his wife, Kelly Coen; son Jac Coen and step-children Paul Interval (Kate Duggan) and Elizabeth Grinchell (Matt Grinchell). He was a loving grandfather to Julia and Scott Mongillio and an uncle to 6 nieces and 3 nephews. The family sends special thanks for the care and support from Scott Craft and Sandra Lodato.
Visitation will be held from 2 p.m. to 6.p.m. with a 5:30p.m eulogy on Saturday June 26, 2021 at Hudson Valley Funeral Home 239 Quassaick Ave. (Rte94) New Windsor NY
